New tshirts and paint!

So I'm starting to use fabric paint on tshirts! I love painting, it's one of the few things I don't mind doing for hours and hours. I'm really excited about this because I'm going to be doing a line of tshirts with fabric paints, upcycled remnant pieces and whatever else I can find :) The material I used for these tshirts is cotton jersey. I did not paint on the jailhouse sailor tee but it is part of the line of tshirts. Both of these shirts are on sale at http://www.yapaclothing.etsy.com/ . I also designed and made a beautiful silk skirt today. It has a jaquard print, which is actually woven into the silk, it's very subtle but beautiful. I will have pictures of that later, hopefully tomorrow.

It's late but you all have to see this dress on a live person!

These are the pictures of the dress on the new owner Angela Lussier! She actually got two dresses today and she helped with the design process on the magenta and white one with the white rosette! She looks terrific in her new dresses! These dresses are intended to promote her business and that is why you see the words 365 degrees on the neck. I did block printing, and basically created a stamp and that is what came out! You can custom order your own now in the same fabric or in different colors. I can also make it in any size! The dress can basically be modified to fit you and your personal style. It will not have the words 365 degrees on it, the collar will be plain unless you would like some sort of stamp as well :) Go to http://www.yapaclothing.etsy.com/ to order your own dress!

One dress down, FIVE to go!

This is one dress out of the five I am doing for Angela Lussier, a pro career consultant. It is made with tina givens fabric and when they are all done they will have her logo on them. This particular one will have the logo on the neck. I am doing block printing, which involves carving out a linoleum block, (logo is in reverse) and near hand mutilation experiences :) I took a small chunk out of one of my fingers. No worries though, it only bled a little bit. One of the pictures is the linoleum block, check it out! I also did a test run on some scrap fabric as you can see in the picture. I do custom orders, so if you or any women you know, need some custom business attire or just some awesome casual/career/dressy clothing, contact me at my shop. http://www.yapaclothing.etsy.com

Morning Hike! And A Bias Cut Dress!

I just got back from a beautiful hike in a south kingston forest! It was a three mile hike and I spotted a rare lady slipper and a lone deer. I was inspired by the magical look it had. It was a bit misty, the sky was covered with clouds and it made the forest a bit dark. Everything was still wet and dewey. The trees were enormous and their trunks were all black because the were wet. OH and marsh ferns, everywhere. They made it look almost tropical the way they were covering every inch of ground at some points. We have had so much rain in the past few weeks, that everything is just green and plush. It was great to get out and get some fresh air, what a perfect day for it, because it was cool and there weren't too many mosquitos out.
On another note: Yesterday I made bias cut dress! It's actually just a pre dress but I must say it's absolutely fantastic the way it hugs the body. For those of you who don't know what a bias cut dress is here is a description:
A bias cut garment is cut “on the bias,” which essentially means diagonally. Because they are cut diagonally, bias cut garments have a very different look from ordinary garments, even when the same basic pattern or shape is used. Bias cut garments tend to cling to a woman’s curves more than clothing that is cut normally. Many women love the delicate, graceful flow of a finely made bias cut skirt or dress.
SO there is your little lesson for the day! Some of the most beautiful and best fitting dresses are bias cut, and you will find that there is nothing else like a nice fitting bias cut garment. They do require more fabric which means more money but, if you want it to fit like a dream, it's worth the little extra.
I should have a picture of this by tomorrow!
